Has your week been as crazy as mine has?!  Probably so, especially if you have kids.  We've been to see two different Santas and Mrs. Clauses in the past two days ... and tried to explain why they looked completely different but were still the same people.

Rust and Plum Winter Outfit Idea

I've been loving this cowl neck rust-colored sweater ever since I saw it on The Teacher Diva, but I didn't want to spend $100.  It's currently 30% off, but if you still don't want to spend $75, this Target cowl neck sweater is very similar for a fraction of the price and has great reviews!  And Target is offering free shipping and returns until 12/23!

Sweater, less expensive version here
Boots (on sale for $25), similar here and here
Handbag, similar under $30 here
Travel Coffee Mug - sold out, but also love this and this
Lipstick {Brave}

We had our first flurries of the year today, and we're supposed to get an inch or two of snow on Saturday.  Although I'm not a huge fan of the snow, my kids are super excited to play in it, and since moving into our new home, we have two huge hills that they're excited to sled down.  In other news, Mason and Wyatt were both sick this week and now I've caught it too, so it hasn't been the greatest week - hence the reason the blog has been unusually quiet!  But such is life.  Hoping for better luck next week!

Holiday Outfit Idea - Velvet & Glitter

We're in full-on Christmas mode over here, and in addition to putting up my decorations and wrapping my presents, I need to figure out my holiday outfits!  Velvet and glitter are both trending this year, and this outfit combines them both in a stylish AND comfortable way.

Velvet Pants, similar here, less expensive here
Top, similar here and here, less expensive here
Scarf, similar here, and here, under $10 here and here
Glitter Clutch, less expensive here
Glitter Flats, less expensive here and here
Belted Wrap Coat, less expensive here

I love velvet pants.  I remember having a pair in high school and they were so soft, comfortable, and WARM.  And there's really no need to spend $100 on a pair of velvet pants.  Old Navy has a very affordable pair here that comes in burgandy, black, and dark green.  Pair them with a plain black top from your closet, optional scarf, and some cute accessories and you've got a winning outfit for the office, holiday parties, or your family Christmas!

The Working Woman

Starting a new job last week inspired me to create an office look for you today!  I love adding something girly - like this blush blazer - to a no-nonsense work outfit.  It just adds such a classy feminine touch.  This colorblock Kate Spade bag is $100 off right now, making it a very affordable and timeless piece to add to your wardrobe.  (This bag is on sale for $30 and looks very similar)  I love the mix of colors!  It goes with everything.  And having both short handles and a long strap gives it versatility in how it can be worn.  This lipstick in the shade "Brave" is my favorite of all time.  It's a great neutral color that looks good on all skin tones.  Definitely a must for your beauty arsenal.  And I'm totally crushing on this eyeshadow palette.  I LOVE the mix of matte and metallic shades!  It reminds me of the Naked 3 palette, which is also one of my favorites.  I'm sorry if you've fallen in love with these pumps, because they're Valentino and $995, and most of us will never own a pair of these.  BUT ... I did find a much more affordable pair (about $925 cheaper to be exact) that are very cute.

Kate Spade Bag (currently $100 off!)
Super similar bag only $30 for Black Friday!
Blazer (only $30), Similar here and here (only $21!)

Olive Crush

I love the darker hues that fall and winter bring, and olive green is one of my favorites.  Here's an olive inspiration board for those of you looking to incorporate more of this color into your closet this season.

The Cape

Love it or hate it, the cape is in style this season.  I have a hard time hearing the word "cape" and not thinking about my 2 year old in his Batman jammies with the detachable blue cape.  Having said that, I'm also intrigued by the idea of basically wearing a blanket all day long.  So there's that.

This particular cape only comes in this pattern, but I'm linking up another very affordable option below that comes in two different patterns that are darker shades and would look amazing with jeans.

I was reading the reviews on this cape (actually was wondering if this could also be worn as a scarf) and heard lots of reviewers say this is amazing to wear for airplane travel because it doubles as a blanket.  So for my world traveling ladies, this is for you!

Cape (under $40), also love this one (on sale under $30)
White denim (on sale for $40)
Tory Burch tote (on sale for $180 until 11/12), similar only $42 here

Casual Fall Outfit

It's finally starting to feel like fall here, and I'm bringing all of my sweaters out of hiding.  Fall is my favorite season.  I love the fall temperatures when I can wear a sweater and boots but not have to worry about bundling up in a winter coat yet.  I've been spending way too much time lately browsing Pinterest for outfit inspiration, and although I love the outfits that the "big fashion bloggers" put together, I find many of them to be too expensive, especially since I like to get new items frequently and don't want to spend a lot of money on each item.  In the spirit of buying new clothes for fall that are affordable, I've put together this outfit for you and linked up less expensive options to achieve the same look.

Don't forget to Pin It!  I love keeping an outfit inspiration board for those days when I get in a rut and feel like I have nothing to wear.  For more outfit inspiration, follow me on Pinterest and Facebook.

3 Easy Desserts the Entire Family Will Love

I'm not a big fan of baking.  I know lots of women are, but it's just not my thing.  Possibly because whatever I bake is consumed by my children within hours, and I often don't even get to eat any of it.  These are the three desserts I tend to make when I do bake - because they're delicious, and most importantly, SO EASY.  So here they are!

The BEST Farmhouse Decor on Amazon

I have a minor obsession with farmhouse décor, and during the process of decorating our new home I found pieces I loved at furniture or home décor stores, only to later see the very same pieces on Amazon for a fraction of the price.  Although you may not think of Amazon as a place to shop for home décor, they have an amazing (and affordable) selection to choose from.  I've rounded up my favorites above!  Enjoy!

Favorite Pins of the Week

There's something therapeutic about randomly pinning beautiful and delicious-looking photos to my Pinterest boards.  Since I enjoy finding new pins, I thought I'd share my favorite pins of the week with you!

I actually made this side dish last night for dinner and it was delicious!  I had to leave out the cranberries because I didn't have any, and it was still amazing.  It tastes like fall!  This would be perfect for Thanksgiving because it's a one pan dish that's super easy to make in a big batch.

Even though I'll probably never eat anything this pretty (let alone bake it myself), I still love pinning beautiful desserts!

The epitome of a great fall outfit ... cozy sweater, cute boots, frayed jeans, and gorgeous handbag!

I could look at beautiful bedrooms and kitchens ALL. DAY. LONG.  Wouldn't it be amazing to wake up here?  My husband might disagree with me...

Finally, a pretty braid that I can actually do!  And it takes less than 10 minutes (less than 5 if you just do a basic braid and leave out the whole french braid technique).

There you have it - my favorite pins of the week!  In addition to pinning random pretty things, I've also started "Let's Shop" Boards where I'm rounding up all the best clothing categorized by store and pinning them in one convenient place for you.  I personally use these boards as a "wish list", and when I'm planning a trip to a certain store (either in person or virtually), I check my board for that store to make a shopping list.

You can follow me on Pinterest here.  I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Shop the Trend - Chenille

Chenille is everywhere this fall, and I can't wait to start rocking the coziest trend of the year!  I remember having a chenille throw on my bed when I was in high school, and it was the softest blanket EVER.  I can't imagine how comfortable it must be to WEAR!  I saw a chenille cardigan show up at Loft this fall and thought it was just a one-off item ... but now I'm seeing chenille sweaters and cardigans almost everywhere, in the prettiest of fall shades.  Here are some of my favorites:

What do you think of the chenille trend?  Would you wear it ... or do you reserve chenille strictly for blankets and baby items?

Your Guide to This Weekend's Express Sale

Since one of my favorite stores is having a big sale this weekend (and we ALL love a good sale), I've rounded up the items that I have and love, as well as the ones still on my wish list (some of which I'm sure I'll be buying over the weekend)!

Paisley Cold Shoulder Top (On Sale for $31)

Choker Tank (On Sale for $21)

Strappy Cami (On Sale for $20, comes in 6 colors)

I also recommend all of their jeans.  They are my go-to, all-time favorite brand of jeans.  The legging jeans are my personal favorite.  Their Portofino shirt is also a closet staple that I've been buying for years.  I have several of them and still wear them all the time.  They are always my go-to when I'm having one of those "I have nothing to wear" days.  Here are some of the other items in the store I'm currently crushing on:
Happy Shopping Friends!  Psssst ... LOFT is also having a major sale, so I'm planning on stopping in there too to grab this sweater that I was talking about over on Facebook.  If you enjoyed this post, make sure to stop over to my Facebook page, where I post daily about all of the sales that are currently going on!

Fall Outfit Inspiration

I don't know about you, but I love with the seasons change and I get to pull out all of my sweaters and boots.  I think it's so much more fun to layer than to just put on shorts and a tank top because it's too hot for anything else.  So in honor of fall's imminent arrival, here are a few outfits that I hope will inspire you to pull out your layers.

SWEATER - TANK - MULES - JEANS (super old, linking similar) - BRACELET

These leopard mules are my favorite purchase so far for fall (possibly tied with the black booties below), and they were only $20 with free prime shipping!  These were my first shoe purchase from Amazon, and I'm very pleasantly surprised.  They do run a tad small, so I suggest sizing up a half size, but other than that they are perfection.  The price varies by size and changes daily, as it often does on Amazon, but the price usually hovers right around $20.

HANDBAG (Cheaper option HERE) - TEE - SIMILAR VEST - BOOTIES - SIMILAR JEANS

A striped tee, utility vest, and peep toe booties are fall staples for me, and I find myself wearing them over and over again.  The tee and vest are actually from last year (so they've really gotten a lot of use) but there are almost identical options since this combo has become so popular.  I've linked up several.

HAPPY ALMOST FALL, Y'ALL!

Lately ...

Hey guys!  Are you all enjoying the cooler fall weather?  I definitely am.  I just wish it lasted longer!

I just wanted to catch up and share a few things that I've been up to lately.  I'm currently reading Mary Kubica's newest novel "Every Last Lie".  It's about a woman whose husband dies in a car crash.  The crash is ruled an accident by the police, but she's convinced foul play was involved.  As she tries to uncover the truth about the accident, she finds out her husband was keeping some major secrets from her.  So far it's good, but I'll have to give you an update once I finish it!  Mary Kubica became one of my favorite authors when I read "The Good Girl".  That one is definitely a must-read!

In other news, I'm loving Old Navy's fall collection!  I picked up this cute army green utility shirt that I've been wearing non-stop, as well as the tunic/cardigan combo below.  The tunic is currently sold out, but I'm hoping it will come back in stock so I can grab it in a few more colors.

Old Navy Tunic // Old Navy Cardigan // Jeans // Wedges (On sale for $32!) // Similar Bag

I landed a sponsored post on Instagram where I had to come up with a simple recipe using Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning, which truthfully I'd never used before.  Turns out it's apparently AMAZING on pretty much everything.  I made these simple loaded potato skin bites ... and my husband said that they are "the best thing he's ever eaten".  He travels for his job and eats at some pretty amazing restaurants on business dinners, and incidentally he's kind of become a food snob.  So when he compliments dinner, I know he means it!  Here's the super simple recipe:

1 lb fingerling potatoes
2 T. butter or olive oil
Cooked and crumbled bacon to taste
Chopped scallions to taste

Steam or boil the potatoes until tender.  Heat the oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.  Add the potatoes to the skillet, letting them crisp up slightly on all sides.  Remove from heat and add 1 T. of Ranch seasoning & salad dressing mix.  Top with bacon and scallions.

I added the seasoning to our grilled pork chops and green beans also, and it was excellent on those as well.  I've read it's really good on popcorn too.  Who knew?!

Have you tried the Ranch seasoning before?  What recipes do you use it in?  I'd love some more ideas on how to use it!

I hope you all have a fantastic rest of your week!  I'm working on something exciting for the blog that I can't wait to share with you!  I'll give you a hint ... it involves Pinterest so make sure you're following.  I'm about to make your fall and winter shopping a whole lot easier!

xo,
Ashley

Chicwish White Crochet Top

One of the things I love about blogging is discovering new brands.  Chicwish is incredibly popular among bloggers, but it's new to me personally.  They carry so many on-trend pieces, and what I LOVE is that they're totally affordable and offer free US shipping!

White crochet top c/o Chicwish (25% off, wearing S/M)

I love versatile tops like this.  It looks great with jeans and shorts or can be dressed up with a skirt or dress pants.  This white crochet top has such intricate detailing ... it really is beautiful!  And it came with a separate white cami to wear underneath that's just the right length and cut.  Of all there is to love, I think the bell sleeves are my favorite part.
