Black & White - A Timeless Combination

It was my birthday last weekend and to celebrate the hubby took me out to an amazing dinner - without the kids, which is a treat in itself!  I wore my new Lush blouse - that I'm in LOVE with - and my favorite white skinnies.  I found this top on the clearance rack at my local Von Maur for $25 (I

My Favorite Manicures

Most of you don't know this, but I used to have a nail blog called Passion for Polish.  I started it about 4 years ago and had a great time creating some really awesome manicures and posting about them.  I ended up taking a break from the blog and then letting my domain name lapse, so the blog doesn't exist anymore (and I'm SO bummed about this ... never let your domain name expire because you'll want to look back at it someday - trust me!).

I was cleaning out photos on my computer and ran across some pictures of my manicures and thought I would share them with you guys.  Based on the sad state of my nails today, I'm amazed that my nails actually used to look like this.  I have so many pictures of different manicures, but these are a few of my favorites!  Take a look and let me know what you think!

If you are looking to purchase some nail polish, there are some really great brands out there, other than what you can pick up at Walgreens or Walmart (there are some great ones there too!).  If you've never tried them, I highly recommend Deborah Lippmann, Butter London, and Ciate polishes.  Of course, white nails are still on trend this season and so are nudes and neutrals.  But you can never go wrong with a classic red or summery pink.  If you guys have any neat manicures you'd like to share, please either post them on the Nineteen Windsor Facebook page or tag me on Instagram - I'd love to see them!

Chicken and Black Bean Quesadillas

I whipped these chicken and black bean quesadillas up one night when I was looking for a quick and simple dinner that was on the healthy side.  I had no idea they'd turn out to be such a hit!  These quesadillas get requested on a regular basis at our house ... and they take under 15 minutes from start to finish.

The secret to making them quick is using Tyson's fully cooked fajita chicken strips.  They are sooo good and take about two minutes to defrost in the microwave.  Of course, you can grill or bake your own fajita seasoned chicken and slice into strips if you prefer.

I sauté sliced green pepper and onion in a small skillet with a little olive oil and add this to my husband and I's quesadillas, but I leave this off of the kid's.  (Another great thing about this recipe - you can custom make each quesadilla to suit each person's taste.  My 5 year old has nothing but cheese in his).

Now start building!  Fill half of each tortilla with these ingredients in this order (it's important to put some cheese on both the top AND bottom to make the quesadilla stick together) - a few tablespoons of cheese, chicken, rinsed and drained black beans, green pepper and onion if using, and a bit more cheese - and fold the unused half of the tortilla over the top.  You can also add cilantro or diced jalapenos if you're feeling fancy!

Now bake for 5-7 minutes or until cheese is melted and outside of quesadilla is slightly crisp.  Cut into thirds or fourths and serve up with some salsa, sour cream, and guacamole.

10 soft taco sized tortillas (I use whole wheat)
22 oz. bag of  Tyson's frozen fajita chicken strips, heated per instructions on bag
2-4 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese (Use more or less to suit your taste. Cheddar or Mexican blend cheese also works well)
15 oz. can black beans, rinsed & drained
Green pepper, sliced and sautéed until tender
Onion, sliced and sautéed until tender

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Place about 3 tbsp. of cheese across half of a tortilla.  Layer on chicken, black beans, green pepper, and onion.  Add another sprinkling of cheese and fold unused half of tortilla over the filling.  Place on cookie sheet lined with foil and repeat for remaining tortillas.  Bake for 4-7 minutes, or until cheese is melted.  Cut into wedges and serve with sour cream, salsa, and guacamole.

And that's it!  So easy and so delicious ... my stomach is growling just writing this post.  These chicken and black bean quesadillas make an awesome dinner that looks like it took a lot longer to prepare than it actually did.  I hope your family enjoys these as much as mine!

Spring Outfit Ideas for Toddler Boys

Outfit 3: Striped tee (only $4 and comes in 14 colors!), Denim Joggers

I struggle with finding my boys cute clothes. The little girls' department seems to exude sheer cuteness, just taunting me with all those ruffly, adorable clothes.  But I frequently find myself groaning in the boys' department because I simply can't find anything I like.  Something different that breaks out of the whole graphic tee/athletic pants trend they wear most days.  And this is simply not a problem I'm used to having.  So when I do find outfits I'm excited about, like the ones above, it's a big win!

Wyatt just had his 1 year portraits done yesterday, and he wore the plaid button up shirt from outfit number 4.  I cannot wait to see how they turned out!  He has the cutest baby blues, and this shirt really brought them out.  Our photographer also did a cake smash with him.  He ended up putting his entire face into the cake, so those pictures should be super cute!  Then he proceeded to eat the cake.  The entire cake.  And then threw up when we got home.

He also has the denim joggers from outfit 3.  The denim is so soft they feel more like sweatpants than jeans.  No zippers or buttons so I know he's comfortable wearing them to play in and take a nap, which is really important to me when my kids are little.  I need about 5 pairs of these for him ... and maybe a larger size for myself!

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by!

5 Must-Try Beauty Products

I'm a product girl.  I'm always trying out new makeup and skincare products, and I rarely stick with the same brand for more than a few months.  However, there are a few products that have won my heart and that I will use FOREVER.  Yep, forever.  They're really that good!

1.  Moroccan Oil Treatment  -  Argan oil is all the rage these days, but this is the product that started it all.  I've been using this for years, and it just makes my hair plain old awesome.  Shiny, manageable, healthy-looking, full ... check, check, check, check.  After showering, I apply a quarter-sized amount on damp hair before blow drying.  I also use this volumizing mousse on my roots.  I've tried other products, and for me, nothing even comes close to the Moroccan Oil treatment.  Yes, it's a bit pricey, but it lasts a VERY long time.  I go through about two bottles per year (and I use it every single day).

2.  IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF50+  - This, my friends, is the face cream of all face creams.  If I could only use one product, this would be it - hands down.  If you aren't familiar with CC creams, they do everything.  Deliver anti-aging benefits, moisturize, provide SPF, and provide foundation-like coverage.  In the morning I use this serum on my face, followed by my CC cream and a light dusting of powder.  That's it.  And this is coming from a girl who used to layer on the moisturizer, SPF, primer, concealer, foundation, and powder.  Seriously, just try it.

3.  Dr. Denese Advanced Firming Facial Pads  -  This is the product that changed my skin forever.  For real.  Whenever anyone asks me about my skincare routine or wants advice on products, I always steer them to these glycolic acid pads.  I swipe one over my face every night after using my favorite cleanser to help exfoliate all those dead skin cells that clog your pores.  Yes, it stings.  Yes, it makes my face red.  Yes, it smells bad.  But it works.  Just read the reviews and you'll see I'm not alone in my love for these face pads.  My skin glows for the first time in my life.  Exfoliation really is the key to great looking skin.  Ok, I'm jumping off my soap box now...

4.  Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk  -  I've tried about 37 different dry shampoos (ok, maybe not quite that many but a lot) and this is my favorite by far.  I received a sample in my Birchbox and have used it faithfully ever since.  They also have a tinted version for those dark haired gals who don't want that white residue dry shampoo always seems to leave behind.  This helps me get an extra day out of my wash and doesn't leave my hair feeling like it has a film on it, like so many other dry shampoos do.  My hair looks just as good, if not better, than it did the day I washed it.  Talk about efficiency.

5.  Stila HUGE Extreme Lash Mascara  -  I have a love/hate relationship with my eyelashes.  I just can't seem to get my eyelashes to look thick, full, and dark no matter how hard I try.  I've had my eyelashes permed (yes, you can actually have this done), tried Younique fiber lashes, and looked into getting eyelash extensions (which are crazy expesive, by the way).  I also went through a phase where I applied falsies every single day.  And then I found this mascara.  It's not perfect, but it's my favorite.  My lashes are full and dark with just one coat.  I still apply this under my Younique fiber lashes when I'm going out, but for running to the grocery store or swimming lessons with the kids, this is my go-to.

So that was rather long-winded, but I'm really passionate about these products.  I hope next time you're looking for a new product to try you'll give them a shot.  And definitely let me know what you think!  What are your favorite products?  Let me know in the comments!  And as always, thanks for stopping by!

Spring Handbags

Pink Tassel hobo / Envelope Clutch / Light blue tote (on sale) / Saddlebag (only $60!)
I'm so in love with the pretty pastels of this spring's handbags ... I wish I had one in every color!  It's still freezing here in Indiana (it snowed yesterday!) so I'm patiently waiting for spring to arrive.  I've been out buying shorts and tank tops, but at this rate it may be July before I'm able to wear them.

Here are a few of my favorite handbags of the season.  Which is your favorite?
